Eero Saarinen was a Finnish American architect and industrial designer of the 20th century. He believed that his clients were “co-creators,” which led him to adjust his approach to design according to what they wanted instead of strictly adhering to his aesthetic.

Pedestal Collection was designed in 1957, Saarinen resolved the "ugly, confusing, unrestful world" underneath tables and chairs. The design principle is a circular base from which a stem extends upward to a large Circular top.

White artificial marble stone, 1" inch thick with a beveled edge as per the original design. Underneath of marble is keyed appropriately to fit onto the strong metal base in lacquered white gloss, which has been manufactured to take the marble weight and 4 bolts secure the base to the top.

Beautiful table

The table is beautiful. I have it with four IKEA Tobias chairs in blue. The first two tops arrived damaged, but the third was a charm. If better packing could be developed, the price of the table could probably be reduced.

Love our Tulip

We are extremely pleased with this table. The surface is attractive and durable and it looks great overall. Assembly was easy (once we carried the heavy packages--it came in 2 parts--up the stairs.

Before purchasing I asked how sturdy the table was and got so many positive responses. I agree with the other reviewers that this is a great quality table. Looks great in my apartment.
